Revisiting CAMELS Rating System and the Performance of ASEAN Banks: A Comprehensive MCDM/Z-Numbers Approach

This paper provides a new perspective on the performance of ASEAN member countries’ banks as proxied by CAMELS rating system in light information reliability. A comprehensive MCDM approach is developed based alternative methods to handle expert preference uncertainties regarding banking ideal levels and relative variable efficiency. While preferences are collected using structured interviews, partial bank rankings defined upon Fuzzy TOPSIS with primary efficiency weights obtained from SWARA. Z-numbers utilized address inherent fuzziness how financial distress associated reliability positive-ideal variables functions generated or perceptions. The empirical findings demonstrated that employing methodologies applied proxy system, ambiguous influence hardship can be adequately handled.
